In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't. There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast. A painter should begin every canvas with a wash of black, because all things in nature are dark except where exposed by the light. Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. That which is valuable is pure, properly aligned, and glitters with light — and this is true for the person just as it is for the gem. Every act of kindness spreads peace to the world, love to the heart, light to us all. We do not lead others into the Light by stepping into the darkness with them.
