One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody everything everynight before you go to bed. Forgiveness means giving up all hope for a better past. Keep memories of insult on a short leash, and memories of blessing on a long one. To err is human; to forgive, divine. The only vice that cannot be forgiven is hypocrisy. The repentance of a hypocrite is itself hypocrisy. Stop beating yourself up for the past mistakes. You deserve your forgiveness. A life lived without forgiveness is a prison. Jesus himself did not try to convert the two thieves on the cross; he waited until one of them turned to him. Choose your words wisely. Words can be forgiven, but the impact they have may not be forgotten.
