Reading, after a certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking. Read as you taste fruit or savor wine, or enjoy friendship, love or life. No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally - and often far more - worth reading at the age of fifty and beyond. I am a part of everything that I have read. Books are for people who wish they were somewhere else. I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
