Absence and death are the same - only that in death there is no suffering. No one may speak for the dead, no one may interpret their mutilated dreams and visions. No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear. Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them. Remember me and smile, for it's better to forget than to remember me and cry. No matter how prepared you think you are for the death of a loved one, it still comes as a shock, and it still hurts very deeply. There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief.
