One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody everything everynight before you go to bed. Humanity is never so beautiful as when praying for forgiveness, or else forgiving another. Forgiveness means giving up all hope for a better past. Keep memories of insult on a short leash, and memories of blessing on a long one. The only vice that cannot be forgiven is hypocrisy. The repentance of a hypocrite is itself hypocrisy. Stop beating yourself up for the past mistakes. You deserve your forgiveness. A life lived without forgiveness is a prison. Jesus himself did not try to convert the two thieves on the cross; he waited until one of them turned to him. Choose your words wisely. Words can be forgiven, but the impact they have may not be forgotten.
