It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President; I'm beginning to believe it. In politics, stupidity is not a handicap. Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. We must not look to government to solve our problems. Government is the problem. Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets. In war, truth is the first casualty. The propagandist's purpose is to make one set of people forget that certain other sets of people are human. Laws grind the poor, and rich men rule the law. We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.
