If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some. Trust is central to an economy that works. War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
