Some people feel guilty about their anxieties and regard them as a defect of faith but they are afflictions, not sins. Like all afflictions, they are, if we can so take them, our share in the passion of Christ. If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep. Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength. The fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.
